Behind-the-Scenes of Event Planning: The Hard Life

Everyone in the wedding industry knows that the beauty on the surface equates to a multitude of tears and sweat being shed behind-the-scenes of event planning. There’s nothing quite like the watching the hard work and energy you put into planning and executing an event come to life.

Before any thought is even given to the well-known aspects of event planning like venues and dates, before the menus are selected and the invitations designed, there are fees to be negotiated and safety risks to be considered. And what can’t be accounted for falls onto your shoulders as the main planner.

This entails a lot more meticulous planning, grunt work, and running around like a headless chicken on the day of the actual event than expected of the job.

At the end of the day, I love working with my amazing clients and team members. Here are a few snapshots of what goes on behind-the-scenes of making the magic happen.

If you need someone to bring your (realistic) wishlist to life, don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.

Traditional Korean Fall Themed First Birthday Dohl

We had a gorgeous traditional Korean fall themed first birthday ‘dohl’ at the East Angel in Downtown Los Angeles.

The natural, earthy tones and woody browns perfectly emulated an authentic Korean autumn! The celebration also fell on Halloween so the fall themed decorations included petite pumpkins and leaves.

We teamed up with Paper Lattes, a boutique party & design agency, for the custom displays and backdrops of the gorgeous ‘dohl’ setup.

Dean's Second Birthday Styled Photoshoot Annual Tradition

Children grow up so fast and change each year in physical characteristics and personality. That's why I decided to throw my son a birthday styled photoshoot as an annual tradition.

Dean turned two this past month and he’s been more rambunctious than ever! He’s also been really into dinosaurs lately which is why the theme for this year was Dean’s Two Wild! Another great aspect of annual styled birthday shoots are that they capture and preserve those moments that fly by so quickly.

These shoots can also be a perfect time for the whole family to get together and create some quality memories and family heirlooms.

I plan on styling these birthday shoots every year for Dean until he leaves for college. To be completely honest, they’re more for me than for him, but maybe he’ll appreciate having the ability to reminisce his yearly transitions one day.

Is your birthday boy or girl turning another year soon? Don’t dally the day away! Schedule a styled birthday photoshoot now.
