ClicheMag Interview: 'Christine Chang Hustles to Plan a Wedding in “The Wedding Hustler”'

October 31, 2022 Christine S. Chang

So honorded to have our very own Founder and CEO Christine Chang interviewed by ClicheMag for her upcoming feature in the movie “The Wedding Hustler”.

In the interview, Christine talks about how she came to be a wedding planner and how Live, Love, Create Events came to be.

I combined my love of arts with the skillsets learned working in the service industry to plan, design and execute my couples’ dream weddings.

Christine goes on to share how covid affected the wedding industry and how she adapted by creating socially distanced styled photoshoots and helped couples post-pone their weddings. The groom (Chris) of one of the couples she worked with to replan their postponed wedding, was actually a writer, director, and producer. And with him, the movie “The Wedding Hustler” was born.

Doljabi: A Korean First Birthday Tradition

October 24, 2022 Christine S. Chang

A ‘Doljabi” is the main highlight of a Korean tradition which celebrates a baby’s first birthday through a grand banquet or ceremony called ‘Doljanchi”. The ceremony is a way to celebrate and bless the baby with a healthy life and prosperous future.

The ‘Doljabi‘ is a tradition where the baby is usually wearing a traditional Korean hanbok, and placed in front of various items. Each item represents the baby’s bright future career or lifestyle path. The guest and family then encourage the baby to grab one or two of the items that were placed in front of them.

The tradition items used include:

A bow: destined to be a great warrior; courageous

Medallion: high status; government official

Set of coins: wealth; wise investor; live in abundance

Fortune pouch: lucky or blessed; inherit good luck and everything they do will be good

Brush: wise person; scholar, would change the world through writing

Yarn: long life without illness

5 color paper: vigor; long live full of energy

Medicine pot: doctor; save lives

Rice ball: life of plenty

Over the years, the types of items or objects used for this tradition have changed to reflect modern society’s view of a sucessful future or career choice.

Some of the modern items include:

Gavel: judge or lawyer; embodies justice of the world

Camera: photographer; shares beautiful things and help correct bad things

Microphone: entertainer; singer or celebrity who has a good influence on people

Stethoscope: doctor or medical personnel who is will save lives

Ball: athlete who will become famous

Computer mouse: engineer or tech specialist; make the world easier to live in

The list of the modern items goes on and can be adjusted in any way as long as it represents a bright future for the child. Although there are many items to use for the doljabi, we suggest using 5-8 items. We hope this full-filled tradition will continue to carry on throughout the generations to come.

save the dates and official wedding invites, when do i send them?

October 18, 2022 Christine S. Chang

What's the difference between a' Save The Date' (STD) and a wedding invites? Do we need both? When should we send them out? These are some common questions that many couples have.

Save the Dates (or STDs) are a way of announcing your wedding day earlier to give people a heads up about the big day. These are generally sent out as soon as a venue is booked and date the wedding day is confirmed. They should be sent out no later than 6 months before the actual wedding date. Sending out STDs early allow guests to have plenty of time to make arrangements for your wedding day including accomodations if needed.

The key differene between STDs and invitations is that you have to reply to an invitation. Invitations are usually sent out with a reply card so that your guest can RVSP if they will be attending and finalize any other details such meal choice (if it applies to your wedding).

For invitations, we want to work backwards from the wedding date. Final RSVP’s should be collected at least 1 month prior to the event date. So to give your guest plenty of time to respond, we suggest sending out the inviations a month to a month and a half prior to the RSVP date on the invitations.

Working with a wedding planner can help with the details of putting together the STDs and invites as well. For Kelianne & Chase, we worked with @paperandtype to transform the mockups into these beautiful wedding stationary. Check out the reels below!
