A Romantic Soft Summer Wedding All Planned Remotely

September 26, 2022 Christine S. Chang

A great example of why its recommended to hire a wedding planner is Stacy and Peter’s wedding. All of the wedding planning was done remotely for this couple and even the final venue was seen on the day of by the newlywed to be.

THE COUPLE:

STACY + PETER

THE VENUE:

EAST LA, DOWNTOWN, LOS ANGELES

With the bride and groom living in Northern California, it was difficult for them to meet their wedding vendors in person to plan their special day. Everything was discussed and presented to the couple through zoom and phone calls with their head wedding planner to coordinate all the details for their ‘Mary Antoinette’s summer house’ wedding theme.

From picking out the small local ma and pa vendors the couple wanted to work with, to ensuring their dog would be included as a ring bearer, no details were missed. Working with a planner allows the them to be your eyes and ears when you cant make it and helps you find the specific vendors you want to work with.

We were even able to set up a full Paebaek ceremony as well.

100 Day Korean Photoshoot For The Little Sister

September 19, 2022 Christine S. Chang

The 100 days (baekil) is always a huge milestone in Korean tradition to celebrate the first 100 days of a baby’s life. This 100 days photoshoot for Madelyn was a special one because we had the pleasure of doing the same 100th day shoot for her older sister Olivia Jade.

Olivia Jade was super excited about helping her baby sister with the photoshoot and definitely showed that this was not her first photoshoot

It was super cute to see the newest addition and to be able to do this for the family again.

A Traditional Korean Paebaek Ceremony With a Modern Flare

September 12, 2022 Christine S. Chang

Paebaek is a traditional Korean wedding custom typically held after the main wedding. The ceremony symbolizes the unification of the newlywed couple where the groom’s family formally welcomes the bride into the groom’s household.

Our most recent paebaek which Christine was hired to moderate, shows what a modern paebaek looks like. Taking place wearing traditional Korean hanboks, a paebaek features formal bowing to close family members of each household, a tea ceremony, and the couple catching dates and chestnuts together.

THE COUPLE:
Hyuna + Aaron

THE VENUE:
Saddleranch - Malibu (vineyard)

Traditionally the ceremony only involved the groom’s family as it represented the bride moving in with her in-laws to become a permanent part of their family and would be held a few days after the official wedding ceremony. But modern paebaeks have changed to show equal respect and commitment to the brides family as well and is typically performed during the cocktail hour.

The newlywed couple will sit facing each other in front of a painted screens with their elders seated behind the table to perform the ceremony:

  1. EXCHANGE BOWS: The couple then perform big bows (kunjeol) starting with the grooms parents and followed by the brides parents.

  2. SERVE THE TEA: The bride and groom will serve tea or rice wine to both sets of parents and other relatives who take part in the ceremony.

  3. OFFER BLESSINGS / WORDS OF WISDOM: After receiving the bows, the parents and relatives will give their blessings and other advice to the newlywed for a happy marriage.

  4. THROW DATES & CHESTNUTS: The parents will throw dates and chestnuts, which represent children, towards the couple who will have to catch them in a cloth together. The dates represent sons and chestnuts represent daughters.

  5. PIGGYBACK THE BRIDE & MOTHERS: To finish the ceremony, the groom must piggyback his new bride once or twice around the table. Often times the groom will also piggyback the groom’s mother or mother-in-law will participate in this as well.

Its always great to see couples embrace tradition!

Here’s a BTS take of Christine working her magic to set up a modern Paebaek set similar to what was used for Hyuna & Aaron.

A sparkling K-drama inspired ceremony bathed in golden hour light gave way to a Shanghai Nights reception straight out of Crazy Rich Asians. Crystal chandeliers shimmered above lush blooms, a Chinese apothecary escort wall honored tradition, and lion dancers welcomed guests into a haze-filled celebration of culture and class. From a custom dragon lantern shipped from China to a bespoke Hong Kong–inspired bar and Double Happiness wedding cake, every detail was an immersive tribute to heritage — perfectly timed for Lunar New Year.
