Pasadena Weekly Headline: 'Christine Chang adds Asian American flair to weddings'

May 2, 2022 Christine S. Chang

So honored to have our full-service specialty focused on bringing Asian-American flair and tradition into Western wedding ceremonies featured on Pasadena Weekly’s headline news last week!

The article highlighted Paebaek Ceremony, a traditional tea ceremony held during the cocktail hour, and the Asian-American bride photoshoot we held in honor of Lunar New Year.

Founder and CEO Christine Chang also opens up about how the pandemic affected the wedding industry.

“I was open to those who needed advice and had conversations with a lot of them who didn’t know where to start or restart their planning. I was taking any phone call to try to help as many people as I could. I’m still very open to it.”

Traditional Ukrainian Bride and Wedding Styled Photoshoot

April 25, 2022 Christine S. Chang

The origin of the Ukrainian marriage ceremony is steeped in traditions and rituals. In Ukraine, a wedding was a three-day celebration. We had the amazing chance to be the main planner behind this styled shoot featuring Ukrainian brides in authentic Ukrainian wedding dresses as a charity event to raise funds for Ukraine donated through UNICEF.

Location:

Maxwell House in Pasadena, CA

One of our beautiful brides, Katerna, ended up getting married at a Southern CA courthouse and she still hopes to have a Ukrainian wedding once the war is over.

She told us about how she came to the U.S. as a student and some of Ukraine’s unique wedding traditions.

“Ukrainian weddings have a lot of folk songs, dancing, and jokes. Those are the things I love the most to feel and to express. It will definitely have wheat spikes 🌾 Wheat spikes are a symbol of one of the greatest shrines of the Ukrainian people – bread, a symbol of productivity and prosperity.”
“I just know if we will decide to have a [large] wedding it will be either in Kyiv, Ukraine or Carpathian Mountains. For me they are the regions with a deep soul, very strong and beautiful, as I would describe a Ukrainian person.”

A portion of proceeds from this shoot went to UNICEF to help Ukraine. Here is the link if you feel compelled to donate! https://www.unicef.org/ukraine/en

Tropical Jungle Grass Room Wedding in DTLA

April 18, 2022 Christine S. Chang

We spent our weekend at a tropical, jungle greenhouse wedding held at the Grass Room, a lush and hip venue in DTLA. The unique space definitely determined the overall feel of the event which was perfect for the couple since they were so laid-back and chill! Beautiful vows were spoken under high greenhouse ceilings and ambient dining took place at family-style tables surrounded by hand-painted wall murals.

THE COUPLE:

Tina + Steven

THE WEDDING:

The Grass Room has definitely become one of my favorite venues after this wedding. One-of-a-kind architecture and hip design aesthetics encapsulate an outdoor vibe INDOORS with all the natural sunlight.

One great tip when you aren’t that picky and dislike making the plethora of micro-decisions involved in wedding planning is to pick a venue that comes with all of the decorative elements impeccably designed beforehand! Florals usually contribute a significant part to the aesthetics of a wedding, but when the whole place is already decked out in greenery, it becomes that much easier!

The team loved hanging with Tina & Steven’s family and friends at this very put-together yet low-key party!

A Luxe K-Drama Wedding Ceremony & C-Drama “Shanghai Nights” Lunar New Year Reception
about a week ago

A sparkling K-drama inspired ceremony bathed in golden hour light gave way to a Shanghai Nights reception straight out of Crazy Rich Asians. Crystal chandeliers shimmered above lush blooms, a Chinese apothecary escort wall honored tradition, and lion dancers welcomed guests into a haze-filled celebration of culture and class. From a custom dragon lantern shipped from China to a bespoke Hong Kong–inspired bar and Double Happiness wedding cake, every detail was an immersive tribute to heritage — perfectly timed for Lunar New Year.
