Asian-American Women Entrepreneur Panel
We are all here for Asian-American women entrepreneurs! It was an honor to have our founder and CEO Christine Chang share her origin story on this special AAPI panel.
She talked about what growing up Asian-American in the city with a hodgepodge of cultures felt like and how that influenced her to become a face of representation for the wedding industry and beyond.
Infusing culture and tradition into celebrations like weddings and birthdays wasn’t as readily available as it is today. Even now, the number of vendors specializing in that niche are few and many don’t even know that it’s possible!
After feeling like she had to teether between the separate worlds of American and Korean her whole life, Christine Chang said that the first time she felt real joy through her work was when she expressed herself through wedding & event planning in 2009.
While planning her own wedding and her son’s birthday celebrations, she realized that she should be the one to create an authentic tribute to both sides of her identity after only experiencing “cookie-cutter” Korean-American weddings. Coming from an art background, Christine was able to hand-paint a beautiful backdrop for Paebaek, or traditional Korean wedding celebration. She also creates amazing customized backdrops for Korean first birthdays and stylized milestone photoshoots.

We really resonated with all the advice the other panelists, Chef Beverly Kim and Carol Pak of Drink Sool, had to share and we hope our attendees also gained some insight as well!
Thank you so much for bringing everyone together to celebrate intersectionality and how far we have come as a minority group.
